Book Sales

My first print run of 100 copies sold out, but I have had a second printing of an additional 250 copies done this year. So more are available, now at a cost of $20 CAD. My second book, Twelve Steps for Everyday Living, is now available for purchase for $15 CAD. It is my attempt, based on my experience and those who've been a part of my recovery journey, to transform the 12 Steps into a tool for anyone to use to navigate the challenges and trials of life.

Review it? Do you have a copy and enjoy what you have read? Can you help me promote it by leaving a good review at Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21939460-lean-on-me)? Thanks for your support.

In other news, after a long debate and some peer pressure, I have started a second blog, along the same vein as Lean on Me, but in my second language. You can check it out here - Tomber dans l'appui.

March 1

”Man is only now more active – not more happy – nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.”
Edgar Allan Poe
I’ve heard it said that some people confuse movement for progress. I know I’ve experienced it in my own life, and even in my own recovery. Some days my best coping mechanism is to simply keep busy. While this technique may work for the short-term, it tends to fail over the long-term. I am learning that it’s not as important to keep busy as it is to continue doing the appropriate things for my recovery. Spending hours in front of the TV or surfing the internet (safely) do not contribute much to my emotional and spiritual health. They’re simply distractions.
Attending meetings (in person, on the phone or on-line), calling my sponsor or a brother or sister in the program, reading recovery-related material, exercise, prayer, meditation or any of the many other activities that now reside in my outer circle are much more productive ways to spend my time. It’s critical that I focus on these new tools rather than time wasters that eventually lead back to my old habits and behavioural patterns.
Affirmation
Today I make a conscience choice to practice my outer circle behaviours to reinforce my commitment to recovery.
