”To forgive is to set a prisoner free and
discover the prisoner was you.”

As
human beings we have a tendency to hold onto things, good and bad. Often as a
result, we focus much of our attention on the past, reminiscing about how things
were or might have been.
Forgiving
ourselves, and others whom we have affected through our addictive behaviour
is another step in our process of letting go. We need to let go of the
baggage we are carrying within us, most especially those things that are
unresolved. In making our amends we move from holding onto the past and into
the present by taking responsibility and doing something to make life
better. We are humbled by our acts of amendment and gain wisdom in seeing the
pain we have caused others.
It
is important to make amends to ourselves and take measures to establish
things that we have neglected or deprived ourselves of during those periods when
we were focused on our addiction and not making healthy choices.

Affirmation
I
hold the key to walk out of my prison, and that key is forgiveness.

These thoughts are part of my personal journal - reflections of where I am and have been in my recovery, but also where I want to be. My words come from my heart, and moments of clarity when I am best connected with my Higher Power. May God grant you serenity in reviewing my humble beginnings and my continuing path of recovery.
Book Sales
My first print run of 100 copies sold out, but I have had a second printing of an additional 250 copies done this year. So more are available, now at a cost of $20 CAD. My second book, Twelve Steps for Everyday Living, is now available for purchase for $15 CAD. It is my attempt, based on my experience and those who've been a part of my recovery journey, to transform the 12 Steps into a tool for anyone to use to navigate the challenges and trials of life.

Review it? Do you have a copy and enjoy what you have read? Can you help me promote it by leaving a good review at Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21939460-lean-on-me)? Thanks for your support.
In other news, after a long debate and some peer pressure, I have started a second blog, along the same vein as Lean on Me, but in my second language. You can check it out here - Tomber dans l'appui.
