”Live your life each day as you would
climb a mountain. An occasional glance towards the summit keeps the goal in
mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each vantage point.”

I
am reminded of the saying about how to eat an elephant. Each day in recovery
can seem daunting, like climbing a mountain – or even moving one. Not only is
it important for me to remember to eat life one bite at a time, but it is
equally important that I savour each morsel.
My
day will be filled with ups and downs, and mainly due to events outside my
control. Yet I can take regular pauses to “enjoy the view.” Stepping back to
reflect can help me to learn from each situation, take a quick inventory of
my thoughts and feelings, and even give a quick show of gratitude for the
lessons I have learned and things I am improving on. Then I can move on to
whatever is next.
When
I can divide my day into smaller and more manageable pieces, it is easier to
digest than trying to tackle it all at once. Planning regular sanity breaks
gives me the chance to recharge my batteries and then take on the new
challenges that lay before me.

Affirmation
I
will take today a slice at a time. I will also give myself regular breaks to
breathe, pause, reflect and recharge before taking on something else.

These thoughts are part of my personal journal - reflections of where I am and have been in my recovery, but also where I want to be. My words come from my heart, and moments of clarity when I am best connected with my Higher Power. May God grant you serenity in reviewing my humble beginnings and my continuing path of recovery.
Book Sales
My first print run of 100 copies sold out, but I have had a second printing of an additional 250 copies done this year. So more are available, now at a cost of $20 CAD. My second book, Twelve Steps for Everyday Living, is now available for purchase for $15 CAD. It is my attempt, based on my experience and those who've been a part of my recovery journey, to transform the 12 Steps into a tool for anyone to use to navigate the challenges and trials of life.

Review it? Do you have a copy and enjoy what you have read? Can you help me promote it by leaving a good review at Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21939460-lean-on-me)? Thanks for your support.
In other news, after a long debate and some peer pressure, I have started a second blog, along the same vein as Lean on Me, but in my second language. You can check it out here - Tomber dans l'appui.
